Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a postgraduate doctorate course which is more practical oriented and research-based as compared to MBBS. This is one of the specialties under the medical field that teaches and prepare future doctors.
The course duration is of 3 years including successful completion of an exam that covers both theoretical and practical knowledge.
Eligibility of the M.D course is restricted to those holding the M.B.B.S degree by the university that is acknowledged by the Medical Council of India. However, percentage criteria may vary from Institute to Institute. Some colleges may conduct a personal interview during the admission process.
