The SSR Medical College, operating for the last 17 years, is the first medical college of Mauritius. The College is situated almost in the middle of Mauritius near the central town of Curepipe about 15 km from the airport and same distance from the Capital city of Port Louis. The College is affiliated to the University of Mauritius, which is the degree awarding body. 1100 passed out (till Dec.'15) graduates, who are working successfully in their respective countries and also in some of the most reputed hospitals in the USA, England, South Africa, Singapore and India etc. The S S R Medical College has its own Green Campus spread over 18 Acres, comprising of about 2,50,000 sq ft of Academic and Residential Hostel Blocks. The College has air conditioned Central Library with online connectivity and Wi Fi facility and 50 terminals for students apart from separate libraries for different departments. The S S R Medical College has air conditioned Lecture Theaters (Capacity-200/140/75), a large Lecture Hall (Capacity-500), an Examination Hall along with many Labs cum Demonstration Rooms and a State of the Art "Clinical Skills Laboratory".
