Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences was born in the year 2006 with a vision to establish a multispecialty hospital in Agaram Village of Puducherry, Union Territory of India, where in particular the poor could receive free advanced medical care in an atmosphere of love and compassion and to create a world-class teaching and research environment.
Annually 150 students admitted for undergraduate MBBS degree course, postgraduate degrees in Eight specializations – Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Pharmacology, Radiology, Otorhinolaryngology, Orthopaedics & Dermatology and Ph.D degree programmes. Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences recognized by Medical Council of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi and affiliated to Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai. The diversity of the College community makes for a stimulating and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences University was established under Section (3) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956 on 29th September, 2003 by Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development vide its notification No. F.9-11/2000-U-3.
The Pravara Medical Trust is the parent Organisaiton of the University and was established in 1972 in a small village Loni of Ahmednagar District (Maharashtra State) by a visionary Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, the founder of Co-operative movement in India.
In 1976 the Trust started providing primary and secondary level medical care with establishment of a modest hospital of 100 beds and over a period of time the hospital grew in to 800 beds multi-disciplinary, superspeciality medical institute with state of art facilities.

Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) Trust has been established in 1982 at Nanded (Maharashtra), which has its institutions at Nanded, Aurangabad, Navi Mumbai and Parbhani in Maharashtra State and at Noida in Uttar Pradesh (Delhi NCR). The aims and objectives of the trust are to contribute towards fulfillment of the task initiated by Mahatma Gandhi and based on its principle that, "Literacy Education is of no value if it is not able to build up sound character".

Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University) was granted the status of Deemed to be University by University Grants Commission, on 24th May, 2005. Immediately after getting the Deemed to be University status, the DMIMS(DU) has opted for inspection by National Assessment & Accreditation Council, and accordingly Peer Team from NAAC inspected the DMIMS(DU) campus and its constituent units and accredited the DMIMS (Deemed to be University) with ‘A’ Grade, in March 2007. Thereafter, Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University) was conferred ‘A’ Grade status by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India amongst the Deemed Universities in the Country, in the month of May 2013.
It has been reaccredited with the ‘Grade A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for a period of five years, in March 2013. Thereafter, in the 3rd cycle of re-accreditation by the NAAC, the University has been re-accredited with “A+” Grade making it a unique Health Sciences University in the County to have such a unique distinction, in the 3rd cycle of its re-accreditation, in the year 2017. Subsequently, it was placed in ‘Category-I Deemed to be University’ as per University Grants Commission (Categorisation of Universities only) for grant of graded autonomy, regulations 2018. It has also been included in the list of Deemed to be Universities under 12 B of UGC act, 1956. The University is also received the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy Award for Institutional Research.
The constituent Units of Deemed University are located in a 125 acre campus in Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha about 80 kms from Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, which is the geographic centre of India. It is located away from the hustle and bustle of the city amidst serene surroundings in a self sustaining complex with an excellent academic ambience. It is very well connected by road, rail and air (via Nagpur) to all the major cities in the country and abroad.
D. Y. Patil University was established in the year 2005, in the name of the great educationist and philanthropist DR. D. Y. PATIL Padma Shree Awardee. D.Y. Patil Education Society is the sponsoring society of the University. D. Y. Patil Education Society (Institution Deemed to be University) Kolhapur is registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 bearing no. Maharashtra/32907/Kolhapur on 21st November 2013. The sponsoring society started its Medical College in 1989. This college was initially affiliated to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur and later on affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The Medical College has excellent and constant academic performance, a very strong and aesthetic infrastructural system, efficient and transparent governance and distinct potential for future progress. The Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, on the recommendation of University Grants Commission under Section 3 of UGC Act of 1956, vide its Notification No. F.9-26/2004-U-3 dated 1st September 2005, has accorded the Deemed to be University status to D. Y. Patil Education Society consisting of D.Y. Patil Medical College, Kolhapur.
The D. Y. Patil University, Kolhapur has among many achievements, has been declared as ‘A’ Grade with CGPA 3.09 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. This grade is valid upto April-2017.
The Beginning
In the beginning, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune (DPU) started off with only one institute. Over the last 14 years it has grown manifold! During that duration, 9 more professional institutions were started and came under the umbrella of the parent Institute. Today, the 9 institutions of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune have created a brand name "DPU" in the field of medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, optometry, biotechnology, management, Ayurved, Homeopathy and Distance Learning.
These institutions are providing quality education to about 4500 students. What distinguishes the Vidyapeeth among others are its state-of-the-art infrastructure and dedicated faculty. All the programs offered in these Institutes are duly recognized by respective Councils such as MCI/DCI/INC/CCIM/CCH/AICTE/UGC, etc.
Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has been categorized as “Category-I Deemed to be University” by University Grants Commission (UGC) as per the provision of Categorization of the Deemed to be University under UGC [Categorization of Universities (only) for Grant of Graded Autonomy] Regulations, 2018 vide its Letter dated 20th April, 2018.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth is mainly dedicated to health care related courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Optometry, and allied integrated healthcare teaching, learning and research between modern medicines with alternative medicine, development of education and Research in Yoga and Naturopathy, Innovation in Teaching & Learning and Research, Bioethics, Oral Implantology, Oral Oncology, Dental Material Testing, Biomarkers, Advance Centre for Molecular Diagnostics for human Diseases, etc.
Excellent Facilities
All the different Institutes have libraries! In total, there are about 62000 books along with journals, e-books and e-journals in these libraries. The library of the Medical College is one –of –its kind with spacious reading rooms for students and faculty.
The Central Research Facility is equipped with the latest equipments like Flow Cytometer, Confocal Microscope with software for Karyotying & FISM and Trinocular microscope. The Vidyapeeth has also established a Regenerative Medicine Lab in the Dental College and a Molecular Diagnostic Lab in the Medical College.
The Regenerative Medicine Lab was established to form a nodal reference centre for dental research all over India. It offers a platform for in vitro screening of drugs, pharmaceuticals and dental materials. It has given a platform to medical and dental surgeons to refine their skills and think of upcoming novel therapeutic applications of stem cells for unfulfilled medical needs. The banking of oral epithelial cells from oral cancer patients has permitted bio- banking of the precious material.
On the other hand, the Molecular Diagnostic Lab provides a platform for ongoing and proposed research theme areas. It also assists in creating awareness and sensitize the population about the importance of detection and diagnosis of rare genetic diseases. To extend and support teaching-learning activities of UG / PG / MD / MS programs and start certificate / Diploma courses in molecular diagnostics.
Recognitions
The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, on the advice of UGC, declared Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune as ‘deemed-to-be university’ constituting of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune vide its notification dated 11th January, 2003.
Later on, the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development included three more institutions under the ambit vide its notification dated 20th September, 2006.The Institutes were the Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing, Pimpri, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Pimpri Pune. These 3 Institutes were established in 2000.
Subsequently, UGC vide its Office Memorandum dated 16th March, 2010, also gave approval to the three new institutes, Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute, Pune, Global Business School & Research Centre, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Optometry & Visual Sciences, Pune.
On 4th August 2010, the Institute of Distance Learning, Pimpri, and Pune was given approval by the Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC, New Delhi. Subsequently, UGC gave its confirmation for continuation on 3rd June, 2014. The latest approval was granted by UGC on 6th September, 2016 for 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic year. The Vidyapeeth has also applied online for recognition of theAcademic Session July, 2018.
Recently, the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD); vide its notification No. F.10-12/2016-U.3(A) dated 23rd February, 2018, on the advice of UGC, included the Dr. D. Y. Patil Homeopathic Medical College & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Ayurved & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune under the umbrella of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune (Deemed to be University) as constituent colleges.
On 3rd March, 2015, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has been re-accredited by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.62 on a four point scale at ‘A’ grade. This is valid up to 2nd March 2020. The Vidyapeeth is also an ISO 9001: 2015 Certified University.
Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) Medical College, Pune was established in February 1989 and is renowned for its academic excellence and infrastructural facilities. It was initially affiliated to the University of Pune till it became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) in April 1996.
The College is situated on main Pune – Satara Road in the southern part of Pune city about 5 km. from Swargate (one of the major bus terminus in the city). The Medical College and attached teaching hospital occupy 25 acres of land on a sprawling lush green campus.
Bharati Hospital & Research Centre, Pune along with its Infection Control Committee, Ethics Committee, Blood Bank and Emergency Medicine department are NABH accredited. The Clinical Laboratories are NABL accredited.
The college & the attached hospital is approved as a ‘Centre of Excellence for Mother and Child Health & Eclampsia’ by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi. Bharati Hospital has been awarded the A + grade by Government of Maharashtra under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (Formerly - Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana).
The College and the degrees offered are recognized by the Medical Council of India. The College is listed in the World Health Organization’s directory of recognized medical educational institutions. The students of this College are eligible to appear for USMLE and PLAB examinations.
Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, Sangli was established in 2005 with facility for 100 M.B.B.S. admissions per year. Presently 150 M.B.B.S. students are admitted per year. The college also runs Postgraduate Courses, admitting 47 candidates in 17 different departments every year.

In 1991, the Islamic Academy of education, a not-for-profit trust committed to the upliftment of minorities in general and Muslims in particular, was established by entrepreneur Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi as its Chairman.
The trustees perceived a hiatus in the area of Health Professional education and so decided to start a Dental college. Within a short span of time, the Yenepoya Dental College was granted permission in 1992; recognized under section 3(A) of the UGC Act, 1956 by the Dental Council of India to educate aspiring students to become dentists. Soon, with one successful milestone after another Trust launched the Yenepoya Institute of Nursing Sciences (1994), the Yenepoya Medical College (1999), the Yenepoya Nursing College (2002) and the Yenepoya Physiotherapy College (2003). All these colleges offer Graduate, Postgraduate, Ph.D., and various certification programs.
From its inception, the management dreamt of providing quality higher education, and towards this goal hired the best in their profession. In a healthy campus with natural surroundings, the trust raised buildings designed to bring out the best learning environs, in the distant suburbs of Mangalore.
The Islamic Academy of Education in its quest towards excellence in professional education decided to sponsor the formation of a new trust with the sole purpose of creating a Deemed-to-be University (2007). Recognizing the yeoman service provided over the years by these institutions, the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Union of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission granted recognition to Yenepoya University Trust a Deemed-to-be University status under section 3A of the UGC Act 1956 in 2008. This opened a new chapter in the history of Yenepoya Institutions.
Today, the Yenepoya Deemed to be University has on its rolls nearly 3000 students. The University campus located in Nithyananda Nagar, Deralakatte has been accorded with all modern infrastructure facilities that include fully furnished classrooms, well-maintained science laboratories, residential quarters for staff and separate lodging facilities for boys and girls. The saga of Yenepoya Deemed to be University is yet to unfold and greater achievements are around the corner. To prove that quality has been the signature of the institutions and more than just lip service, we have been accredited by NAAC with “A” grade and CGPA points of 3.14 during November 2015.
The Deemed to be University has been ranked the Third Best University among best Young Universities in Karnataka by K-SURF, Government of Karnataka 2016 and ranked in top 100 (95th) in range in NIRF of MHRD, Govt. of Indian Universities category in the country.
