Prakash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research under the able direction of our Founder Nishikant Bhosale Patil (Dada) is developing into a state of art institution in the field of Medicine, named after the reverent father of Dada. The Prakash Hospital and Research Institute was started in 2014 with 300 teaching beds, 20 ICU beds, 10 Casualty beds, and 10 Recovery beds in OT. A medical college with 100 seats is envisaged for the year 2015 by S.V.J.C.Trust as there is a dire emergency to provide modern medical services to the rural population at their doorsteps. Medical students trained from this college are expected to offer their services to the local communities. This would then improve the overall quality of health services in these communities. Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences University was established under Section (3) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956 on 29th September, 2003 by Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The Pravara Medical Trust is the parent Organisation of the University and was established in 1972 in a small village Loni of Ahmednagar District (Maharashtra State) by a visionary Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, the founder of Co-operative movement in India.
In 1976 the Trust started providing primary and secondary level medical care with establishment of a modest hospital of 100 beds and over a period of time, the hospital grew into 800 beds multi-disciplinary, super specialty medical institute with state of art facilities.

Library & building halls :
The college has a well equipped central library, apart from the Satellite department libraries. The libraries have no dearth of recent academic material. Spacious reading halls for the students and teaching staff need not be mentioned.

Boys Hostel: There is a separate boys hostel in the campus. All the rooms are well furnished. Two students are accommodated in each room There is a co-operative mess in the hostel.

Late Dr. Vasantrao Pawar, recipient of the prestigious Dr.B.C. Roy award, was the Ex-Sarchitnis of MarathaVidhya Prasarak Samaj (MVP). He passed away on 7th October 2010.
He procured the official permission to start the medical college in 1989. Through his relentless effort, the medical college has now acquired the status of a multidisciplinary post graduate institute with a Hi Tech super specialty hospital.
As a mark of respect and gratitude to his contributions, the college was named after him as Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre on 4th April 2010.
Despite his busy schedule, as MLC for Nashik, he took personal interest in the routine functioning of the college. Patients and students always remained his primary focus. He truly believed that the eventual success of a medical institution depends on affordable and quality medical care provided to the patients, and therefore ensured excellent treatment to poor and needy at a negligible cost.
As an accomplished medical professional upholding the true values of medical ethics, he always operated cases in surgery whenever situation demanded, in spite of his busy political schedule.
