Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) was established in the year 1986 at BG Nagar, near Sri Adichunchanagiri Kshetra with a vision of providing medical education to aspiring students from rural areas.
AIMS was inaugurated by the then Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Ramakrishna Hegde on 17th Jan 1986 in the holy presence of Padmabhushana Dr. Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji. AIMS has evolved into a prestigious institution in the region since its inception.
The AIMS Mission
Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, a constituent college of Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research under the aegis of Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust for Backward Classes, Kolar, is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
The college and the University office are located at Tamaka village, Kolar and spread over almost 100 acres of lush green campus. This campus is 75K.M. away from Bangaluru as well as the Bangaluru International Airport. The campus has several buildings to accommodate the administrative, teaching/training, hospital, hostel facilities of The University and the Medical College with a total build up area of 85,000 sq.mtrs. The college conducts medical courses at Under Graduate (MBBS), Post Graduate (MD, MS) and Post Graduate Diploma levels and plans to start doctoral programmes in Biochemistry, Microbiology and fellowship programme in Head and Neck Onco- Surgery. The University has also decided to design a revised curriculum for MBBS course within the regulations as prescribed by the Medical Council of India.

Origin
The Ananda Social and Educational Trust was set up as the outcome of a dream of committed Scheduled Caste intellectuals and philanthropists to make a positive contribution for the betterment of SC and ST and underprivileged people by opening up new avenues for them to find better slots in the social hierarchy by providing quality education. To this end a Medical college named after Bharatha Rathna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was established by the Trust in July 1981
Father Muller Medical College is a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, a Registered Society sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore; a Religious Minority Educational Institution established primarily for the benefit of the members of the Christian Community. Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 1980 by the Vokkaligara Sangha and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka.
The Vokkaligara Sangha took a formal decision on 2.9.1979 to start a medical college from the year 1980-81 and applied for permission to the Registrar, Bangalore University.
On 30.11.1980 the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri. R Gundu Rao laid the foundation stone of the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital in the premises of the Sangha and announced the grant of vacant land in Banashankari to be used for the construction of college building and hostels. Thereafter, the Sangha appointed Dr M Basavaraju, Professor of Physiology as the principal on 1.1.1981 and other staff by March 1981 and classes were started regularly from the 16th of March 1981. Since then 16th March is observed every year as KIMS Day. The Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Institute was held in the year 2006.

The Ramaiah Medical College (RMC) was established in 1979 with the vision of providing quality education to all. The College is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
