The college was founded by Progressive Education Society, in 1970. The college is permanently affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Ganeshkhind, Pune 411007. The college provides various academic amenities so as to attain Bachelors’, Masters’ and Ph. D degrees in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce. The college is a reputed educational institution, which has been known for producing outstanding students who take on different careers, as per their academic merit, successfully in the society. Savitribai Phule Pune University has awarded ‘Best College Award‘ to the college in 2008.
The college not only ensures the academic development of the students but also provides them with opportunities to prove themselves by means of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Moreover, in the field of Sports, the college has made a name for itself. So far 30 students of the college have won prestigious ‘Shri. Shiv Chhatrapati Award‘. The College has a well-equipped gymnasium by which the students are benefited. The Art circle of the college works hard for the promotion of cultural activities. The Career Guidance Centre makes its presence felt by providing necessary information and guidance to the students as and when required. The record of achievements of the college clearly indicates that the college has firmly established itself as a ‘Modern’ and ‘Progressive’ educational institute. The College is re-accredited by NAAC, Bangalore, with ‘A+ Grade (CGPA = 3.51)‘ in 2017. The college has been awarded unique status of ‘College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)’ by UGC, New Delhi in 2011 continuation of CPE in 2017. The college has also received ‘Basic Scientific Research (BSR) grant from UGC. It is also funded by DST, New Delhi, under Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure (FIST) scheme. Recently, DBT, Govt. of India, has sanctioned ‘Star College Scheme’ to our college.
Various educational authorities have noted the achievements and reputation of the college. The Govt. of Maharashtra and Savitribai Phule Pune University have recently accorded the sanction to increase the intake capacity of the M. Sc. Course. The young and highly qualified team of faculty members spare no efforts to keep the students well informed and in updating their knowledge. The students are also reciprocating by their high achievements in academic performance. A large number of students are getting excellent placements in different parts of the country and also abroad. Every year several students are also selected in reputed foreign universities for higher studies.
Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai, established in the year 1995 by MJF.Ln.Leo Muthu, Chairman of Sapthagiri Educational Trust, is a non-profitable, and non-minority institution. Sri Sairam Institute of Management and Computer Applications, also a unit of Sri Sairam Engineering College, was established in the year 1997 and it offers MBA and MCA programmes . Our Chairman has not only stopped with his vision of providing Technical Education but has also ventured into the arena of medical sciences, by starting a Medical College for Indian Medicine namely Siddha, Ayurvedha & Homeopathy. He was also instrumental in starting “The Academy for Blind” and “Home for the aged” under the community service programmes of the Lions Club.
Today, Sri Sairam Engineering College has developed into a reputed Engineering Institution with ISO:9001:2008 certifications, and NBA Accreditation to all the disciplines of engineering. Technical bodies like ISTE, IEEE, SAE, ISA, ISOL and IETE are vibrantly functioning with workshops, guest lectures and conferences. NSS, YRC, National Environment awareness campaign, Energy and Eco-Club are religiously conducting various activities. The department of Training, and Counseling and Placement is another sphere where we have made excellent strides. For offering top quality technical education and moulding the younger generation to the society, our Chairman has spared no efforts to induct dedicated faculty and provide adequate infrastructure facilities.
Symbiosis Institute of Technology, a constituent of Symbiosis International University was established in the year, 2008 and currently offers B. Tech programmes in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering and M.Tech programmes in Computer Aided Design and Manufacture, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering. Research programmes leading to Ph. D. Degree were introduced in Faculty of Engineering of Symbiosis International University in 2010.
The Institute endeavors to provide quality technical education in line with the requirements of today's competitive industry and fast paced technological developments. The curriculum developed by the Institute lays a stress both on basics and latest developments. Realizing the fact that faculty is the most important resource, special efforts have been made to find, recruit and retain highly qualified and competent faculty. Infrastructure created and acquired by the Institute, like all other Symbiosis Institutes, is of a very high quality and includes multimedia classrooms, well equipped labs including software for CAD/CAM, simulations and other applications, well stocked modern library with digital media, auditorium, seminar halls, separate hostels for boys & girls and playgrounds.
The Institute provides on environment conducive for harnessing the potential of both faculty and students through systematic and effective planning and control of the teaching learning process, both within and outside the classroom. The Institute has international collaborations for student and faculty exchange with Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Ingolstadt University Germany, Purdue School of Engineering,IUPUI Indianapolis USA and Leibniz University Hannover.
In an effort to realize the dream of Dr. S. B. Mujumdar Sir, Chancellor of SIU and creator of Symbiosis, of producing Gentlemen Engineers, the students are trained in liberal arts, performing arts, industrial history, human values and ethics and are offered to qualify a special diploma from SIBM and courses from other Symbiosis Institutes. Our Engineering students can take up subjects on product design, patents and copyrights and many other areas closely related to engineering. Students at SIT come from all parts of the country. This diversity coupled with their excellent schooling and family background creates an environment best suited for peer learning. They are ever eager to supplement their normal learning with carrying out technical projects, participation in contests, organizing events and so on.
Sinhgad College of Engineering (SCOE) is private unaided institution that was established in the year 1996. The institute offers eight undergraduate engineering programmes of four year duration namely Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology, Production Engineering, Civil Engineering, Bio-Technology. Six engineering departments are offering post-graduate programs. The department of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering are recognized Ph.D. Research Centre by University of Pune. The institute also offers a post-graduate program leading to MBA degree. It has a total under-graduate and post-graduate enrollment of 1200 and 338 students respectively. There are 126 students registered for Ph.D. with this research center. All the courses are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to University of Pune.

Zeal Education Society is established in year 1996 by Hon. Shri S. M. Katkar, an eminent industrialist committed to noble cause of education. Society runs eight institutes from Pre-primary to PhD courses. ZCOER is established in 2007 which symbolized the beginning of new era in technical education.
