Late Dr. Vasantrao Pawar, recipient of the prestigious Dr.B.C. Roy award, was the Ex-Sarchitnis of MarathaVidhya Prasarak Samaj (MVP). He passed away on 7th October 2010.
He procured the official permission to start the medical college in 1989. Through his relentless effort, the medical college has now acquired the status of a multidisciplinary post graduate institute with a Hi Tech super specialty hospital.
As a mark of respect and gratitude to his contributions, the college was named after him as Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre on 4th April 2010.
Despite his busy schedule, as MLC for Nashik, he took personal interest in the routine functioning of the college. Patients and students always remained his primary focus. He truly believed that the eventual success of a medical institution depends on affordable and quality medical care provided to the patients, and therefore ensured excellent treatment to poor and needy at a negligible cost.
As an accomplished medical professional upholding the true values of medical ethics, he always operated cases in surgery whenever situation demanded, in spite of his busy political schedule. His motto was "Patients come first." Sir extended active support, guidance, advice and played a key role in establishment, sustainment and growth of the institute.
"May God help us to cope with this irreparable loss and grant the energy to fulfil his dreams for the institute, all of his employees and students! May his soul rest in eternal peace and that his vision and mission be carried forward by all of us!"
