On 25th January 1926, a Trust under the name of ‘P.S.GOVINDASWAMY NAIDU & SONS’; came into being to cater to the growing needs of education and industry. Coimbatore opened a new chapter in its history.
To understand the genesis, growth and objectives of the trust, it is necessary to travel back in time and visualize the social, educational and economic scenario of India in general and city of Coimbatore in particular.

The city of Coimbatore, as it exists today with all its industrial and educational houses of excellence, could not even have been dreamt of. The entrepreneurs were yet to arrive while education was meant only for an exclusive few,With these being the circumstances, the trust was established and it became the harbinger of education and industrialization in the Coimbatore region.
It needed a benign and active mix of sympathy, daringness, generosity and selflessness to even think of bringing in changes in such a setting. The four sons of Shri PS Govindaswamy Naidu whose initials the trust bears, had all this in themselves and through their tireless efforts brought forth the trust. They, Shri PSG Venkataswamy Naidu, Shri PSG Rangaswamy Naidu, Shri PSG Ganga Naidu, Shri PSG Narayanaswamy Naidu, the four sons of Shri PS Govindaswamy Naidu, went about setting up the trust in a unique and inimitable fashion. They adopted Charity as their fifth brother and divided their ancestral wealth into, not 4 equal portions, but 5, the fifth one earmarked exclusively for Charity.
They realized that illiteracy caused stagnation, insulating the people from the progressive changes taking place all around and left them poor and uninformed; and hence it was at the root of all the ills of society. Their generous and leadership qualities surged ahead to the fore with this clear sense of understanding of the prevailing malady and its cause. And so, they struck back at illiteracy with a missionary zeal and made education as their primary trust area. The zeal of idealism continued and many institutions were born in succession in various disciplines.
The Kovai Medical Center & Hospital Limited was incorporated as a public limited Company on 29th August 1985. The company has been promoted by Dr. Nalla G Palaniswami and associates.

Kovai Medical Center and Hospital Ltd. is proposing to start a medical college in the name and style of KMCH Institute of Health Sciences and Research from the academic year 2019-20 with an annual intake is 150 students in MBBS degree course.
The medical college is located at 99, Avanashi Road, Coimbatore. It has direct access from the Avanashi Road - National Highway 544 and is very near to the Coimbatore International Airport.
The Academic block of the KMCH Institute of Health Sciences houses the Dean’s Office, Lecture Theatres, Library, and the Pre and Para clinical Departments. The institute has a separate Medical College Hospital. The hospital provides outpatient and inpatient services in all specialties including General Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, TB and Respiratory Diseases, General surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Dentistry.
The institute is also constructing a new state of the art 650 bed hospital facility which will be housing the future expansions of the project.
The proposed KMCH institute of Health Sciences has got approval from the State Government. The Essentiality Certificate (Ref No. (4D) No.5/McA-2/2018. dated 16.05.2018) has been issued by the Health and Family welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University has issued the Consent of Affiliation (Ref No.:Affln.III (3)/13226i2018 dated 29.06.2018) of the college under The Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai.
The college awaits the Letter of Permission approval from the Government of India and the Medical Council of India for the admission of 150 students in MBBS from the academic year 2019-20.
Dr.R.Vasanthakumar, a philanthropist par excellence and our founder promoter is the President of Karpagam Academy of Higher Education. An enterprising industrialist, he is the Chairman and Managing Director of Karpagam Industries Private Limited, Bannariamman Engineering Industries Private Limited, Karpagam Yarns Private Limited, Karpagambigai Investments Limited and Karpagam Infrastructure Private Limited that together employ over 400 personnel.
A Gold Medallist from the Madras University, he graduated with Honours in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. It is probably his deep-rooted academic interest that fuelled Dr.R.Vasanthakumar's endeavours in the field of education.
Besides education, Dr.R.Vasanthakumar is a renowned name in lending his assistance to philanthropic causes. His contribution to temple maintenance and renovation of dilapidated temples is priceless. He has renovated and consecrated more than 300 Shiva temples that are mainly in villages with old granite structures and is maintaining daily poojas in those temples. He has also been instrumental in incepting the Panniru Thirumurai Aaivu Mayyam which is involved in Research of Ancient Tamil Saivism Literature like Thevaram, Thiruvasagam & Saiva Siddantham and spreading Saivism by conducting conferences and seminars once in 2 months. His Tamil Chairty wing has undertaken the million rupee five year project to identify, sum up and list the total number of words available in Tamil language from the Imperial Age till date.
Dr.R.Vasanthakumar's noteworthy contributions have been rightly commended through several titles and recognitions. An Honorary Doctorate conferred on him by the Avinashilingam University in 2004 stands testimony to his role as an exemplary academician and an extraordinary philanthropist. NIA Institutions, Pollachi has awarded the title "Kongu Nattu Sathanaiyalar" on the occasion of the 51st Founder's day of Shri. Nachimuthu Gounder. He has served as President, COSIEMA (Coimbatore Sidco Industrial Estate Management Association) during 1998-2000 and Tamil Nadu Private College Management Association (Coimbatore Chapter) 2000-2002. He is also the President of ENFUSE (Energy & Fuel User's Association), Coimbatore Chapter and RENOVATION Committees of various SHIVA Temples. He is the Governing Council Member of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Polytechnic College, Sri Dhandayuthapani Polytechnic College and Thavathiru Santhalinga Adigalar Tamil College.
